To say that our family situation was strained is an understatement. But God is faithful and saw us through. Then something unimaginable happened that has been in my thoughts ever since. Never so close I can't function, but never so far away that I don't shift into thinking about it.

Legacy of A Father

I ran across this letter I wrote for my dad's retirement "memory book" in November of 2004. I will occasionally post old items that I think fit the purpose of this blog. This one definitely does. You have been my father for a little over 36 years now. And as I consider this major life-transition you find yourself in the midst of, two stories come to mind. Each one reveals a little of the love, wisdom and character you have shown me over the years. In each instance, I, too, was in transition – first from child to youth; then from young adult to man.

This weekend I caught bits of Wayne's World and Wayne's World 2. It's been so long since I've seen these that I really didn't recall the story line. Anyway, in the second one, Wayne is transported several times to a desert where he receives guidance from Jim Morrison.
